Riviera Pebbles Blog: The Perfect Pebbles Love Story
Posted on 18th Jul 2017 in Muse Mag
We may be experts at matchmaking guests with apartments here in Nice, but it seems our skill set might be growing to matching-making staff with guests! Yes, that’s right, we’re proud to take some small credit for introducing newly-weds Jack and Lexa Ettinger.
Two years ago, Jack, an intern from Nottingham University, was meeting and greeting our Nice guests in his usual way, when he checked in (and some would say checked-out Lexa). She was staying in our ‘Pastorelli’ apartment. Of similar age and interests, they decided to meet socially, fell in love, and provide us with the perfect Pebbles love story!
When it was time for them both to return home (Lexa is from New York and Jack from England) they made the long-distance work between Jack completing his final year of his French degree and Lexa training with a famous pastry chef in Manhattan, New York. Celebrating New Year’s Eve together in New York, they decided they couldn’t bear to be apart any longer and the happy couple decided it was time to tie the knot.
Their wedding took place in May 2017 at New York City Hall. Family and friends from both sides of the Atlantic joined them for the special event, where the process involved taking a number and waiting in line. It’s a good job the couple aren’t superstitious because their waiting number was 666, followed by a courtyard number of 13! They celebrated the day in New York, sipping cocktails and feasting on special BBQ cuisine from the Blue Smoke restaurant, whilst watching the sunset from a rooftop bar overlooking the Big Apple.
Further celebrations are planned in both the US and UK, and of course we hope to see them in Nice when they are more settled. This August, Jack starts work as an Assistant Service Manager in the Evelina Children’s Hospital in London, whilst Lexa is returning to America until her visa comes through. Their dream is to open a pastry shop of their own, perhaps here in Nice.
We’re glad to know that the pair intend to return soon to Nice, the beautiful city where they fell in love. They say they cannot wait to take some Lebanese food to Nice beach. Le Bistro du Fromager restaurant is a key favourite of theirs, so it’s likely they will be making a stop there to bring back happy memories from where it all began!
Jack tells us he loved his internship at Pebbles, and we enjoyed working with him so much we also offered him a job for the summer and beyond. If you’re interested in an internship with us whilst at university, do get in touch. Over five interns have become either remote workers or full time staff after their internship with us. But we look for a certain type of person – bubbly personalities, can-do attitudes, logistical thinker and great team players. Jack certainly fit the bill for us – and Lexa too!
Congratulations to you both! We’ll see you soon.
