Riviera Pebbles Blog: Pékin Restaurant
Posted on 19th Jul 2018 in Eats & Drinks
Pékin Restaurant
20 rue de Russie
Perhaps the best restaurant of its kind in Nice, Pékin is an absolute must for vegans and vegetarians. Think a three course-all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet-style meal but with a twist. The restaurant has been around a long time, but converted to being fully vegetarian in 2017. Where a dish is vegan, you’ll see a sign on the menu (over 50% of the offerings are).
After being greeted by the very friendly staff and ordering your drinks, make your way over to the buffet station to fill up your plate with a range of starters. From spring rolls and samosas to sushi-style parcels you'll be gifted with a large choice of delicious bites.
The real treat though is the main course, where you load your plate with a choice of noodles, and your preferred selection of fresh vegetables and tofu. Once you've picked your bespoke ingredients, take it over to the kitchen where the chef will prepare and then cook to make your very own Wok dish. Perfect for any fussy eater. You decide exactly what to eat.
If you're not full after those two courses worry not, as there's also a selection of dessert pieces and fruit to add a sweet note to the end of your meal.
Please don’t be put off by the décor. Running costs in Nice are high and this place prices cheap, and cooks fresh – all their money goes into the food. Ten minutes in with the welcoming service and delicious food and you won’t notice it looks tired. These are owners who try very hard to please. You're sure to be left satisfied after a day of exploring the Riviera, and at 12,50€ for all three courses, you'll struggle to find better value for money food anywhere else.
Open Tuesday-Sunday there is a lunch service (12-2) and dinner service (7-10). You shouldn’t need to book but can by phone: 04 93 87 07 41
