Riviera Pebbles Blog: Troubleshooting: almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes
Posted on 16th Nov 2018 in Your apartment
We absolutely agree with Anne Lamont’s second truth: “almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes…including you”. (Anne Lamont - 12 truths I learnt from life and writing)
There’s no more simple advice than that for appliance and electricity issues, especially since looking for the socket to turn it off, often reveals it wasn’t plugged in or switched on in the first place. If after trying this, there are no signs of life, no lights, no sounds, then it’s over to the fuse box for investigation. Often there is a fuse switch for individual appliances or rooms and you should notice straight away if the switch has tripped – it will be facing the opposite way to all other switches on the board. If no switches have tripped and there are still no signs of life, this is when you should contact us, and we will send someone as soon as possible to resolve your problem.
A common fault report by guests that we are often able to fix over the phone is air-con. To properly work, the windows and doors to the outside need to be closed, and if relying on one machine, the doors to other rooms should be closed; there is only so much cooling one machine can do. Please also check you are properly aiming the remote at the unit, and that the remote is properly programmed to what you want it to do: ie, cooling or heating, and not on a timer. Considering these little things will allow you to achieve better effectivity and efficiency with your air conditioning.
If during your stay any of these problems persist after trying these methods and after reading through the relevant helpful laminates in the binder provided in your rental apartment, then you can of course get in touch via email or phone for one of our members of staff to help you through it, or we will organise a representative or our very own IT manager to come and save the day.
